Forest Management Agreement (FMA) & Timber Quota Holders

Why should you monitor your carbon?
Forests play a critical role in storing carbon and addressing climate change. The amount of carbon stored and released in our managed forests can have a significant impact on climate resiliency. Now, more than ever, forestry companies need to better understand what the current carbon stocks are on the land that they manage as well as the impacts that sustainable harvesting can have on carbon values.
At this time, the forest sector operating on public lands in Canada is not eligible to participate in carbon markets. However, there is still a benefit to understanding the impact of forest operations on carbon stocks if policies change to allow the sector’s participation in a carbon market. Carbon modeling can also help your company become more climate resilient, better understand your climate risks, and provide input for a climate resiliency plan to ensure long-term access to fibre supply.

Our ecological services team can assist your company with:
Conducting carbon modeling to assist your team with understanding what your carbon stocks are and how forestry operations may impact them;
Completing scenario analysis to assess trade-offs between multiple landscape values; and
Developing climate resiliency plans to help your team understand your climate risks.
