Valuing a Community

At Carson Integrated, we are firm believers in the value of a community – a thriving society is socially, environmentally, and economically beneficial for everyone.

We donate a portion of our profits to local, non-profit organizations and post-secondary institutions that matter to our employees, customers, and community.

To date, Carson Integrated has made donations to:

Indigenous Relationships

Carson Integrated believes that part of being a responsible business in Alberta’s natural resource sector involves maintaining strong relationships with Indigenous communities. We embrace that it is necessary to work closely with these communities to support environmental and social sustainability. As such, Carson Integrated has operated with several communities over the years. Our notable relationships have included the incorporation of a partnership with the Fort McKay Métis community, and a joint venture opportunity with a member of the Chipewyan Prairie First Nation.

Carbon Neutrality

As part of Carson Integrated’s ongoing commitment to reduce our ecological impact, we purchased a woodlot, affectionally named ‘Sandhill Woods’, to offset our greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions through carbon sequestration.

By working with Bluesource, a leader in environmental markets and carbon offsetting, we determined the extent of GHG emissions released by our operations each year. We accounted for Scope 1 (direct), Scope 2 (indirect), and Scope 3 (extra organizational) emissions, including things like travel between the field and office, fuel consumption, hotel stays, and our office utilities. Additionally, we modeled forest carbon being sequestered at Sandhill Woods each year through the annual growth of the forest.

To date, we have planted 53,270 trees at Sandhill Woods and will continue to invest in tree planting as opportunities present themselves.
